Functional prerequisites
A person who has reached the age of 18 may be admitted to a program of study leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) on the basis of functional prerequisites. These functional prerequisites, prescribed for a person who has reached the age of 18 on the declared start date of attendance in the vocational program of study, are: passing the general development test (TDG) and obtaining and passing the tests relating to the specific prerequisites in language of instruction and mathematics, where applicable.
This table shows the new Common Core (CC) and Diversified Core (DC) course codes required for specific prerequisites in language of instruction and mathematics for the targeted program of study. Since the new CBT and DBT course codes are being phased in gradually, the old course codes that are still valid are shown in brackets. The equivalent course code for general youth training is also indicated in this table. When a DVS does not require specific prerequisites in language of instruction or mathematics, a (-) appears in the relevant cells. Please note that functional prerequisites do not apply to Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS) programs).
